Back to the Foundations: Faith, Freedom, and Truth

Turning Point USA’s mission, Charlie Kirk, and Tapestry Community in Brevard County, Florida, are synonymous. They are on the same wavelength to bring understanding and restoration of the founding principles of our country back to the community and to the people. I have watched our community change, and in my view, it has been because of the adverse influence from people who did not and would not hold to the values our nation was founded upon.

Charlie Kirk recognized this as a teenager when he founded Turning Point USA in 2012. He apparently saw that faith was dwindling and that what was being taught in the education system was moving away from the Founding Fathers' intent. And being a passionate young man, he chose to seek out what his peers believed and debate the issues. It was apparent in all that he said, and his position was open for all to hear and see.

That position is held by many today. The position that God created this Country, the United States of America, and that our founding is based on the Biblical principles implied in the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights.

Today, we have too many “leaders” who do not hold to the foundation of our country both in the faith community and by those “leaders” who would have it changed because they do not understand the Founding Principles. This is evidenced in government-elected officials, our business community, and our education system, which is responsible for educating our young in the tools of life and the foundation on which we live. However, the foundation of Biblical Faith, taught through many faith organizations, has also become perverted through our higher education system, where the foundations and understanding of Biblical and American principles should be debated to bring about the maturity of education in all walks of our American community. This must change and change now.

In this young man’s life and death, Charlie Kirk has brought about an awakening, and I hope a motivation to restore the Founding Principles of our nation in all communities. In my view, it starts in the local community. Over my years in Brevard County, I have seen and participated in activities that I thought would bring about the restoration and change needed to become a flourishing nation and community. My personal desires, though not always expressed, have always been to see the foundation of faith and people to come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of their lives. A second desire has always been and continues to be, for people to be set free of the ungodly spiritual influences in their lives and community. To that end, I have served in the Brevard Community for almost forty years.

I have over these years seen many efforts come and go to bring about change in people's lives through the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and have seen the church in general move away from speaking the truth (Jesus is the Truth, the Way, and the Life) and bring about a restoration. Instead, we have drifted off course and need a course correction. That is what I saw in this young man, Charlie Kirk. Now it is our turn to move forward in the restoration of our Founding Principles and get our people, local community, and nation back on track.

In 2006, God gave me a vision of a Tapestry. I have shared and spoken about the vision for many years. I personally have had many people catch the vision and come alongside to help. You see, the vision is so large, and I believed that it was too large for me to carry out. So, I was looking for the person who was to bring it about. The fact is, it is God’s Vision, and He is carrying it out. I am now convinced that I will see it come to completion. We produced a book in 2017 called God is Weaving a Tapestry. It is about the vision, but God keeps unfolding more of how He is weaving the Tapestry; it is an ongoing work of God. I believe Charlie Kirk served God and was a catalyst of truth to the younger generation, which would be lost if God had not inspired this young man. Charlie gave the Tapestry a heavenly glow throughout its woven threads.

After COVID, many people began to see the truth of what has been and is going on, and because God established this nation, the United States of America, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, found that we truly are Under God, He is the King of the United States of America, but is the most benevolent King. He is King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He is sovereign in His Reign over all the earth. I do not know if Charlie Kirk knew the role he would play in God’s Tapestry, but he definitely fulfilled His purpose.

Today, an Awakening has begun, and now it is time to help one another come together in the tapestry that God is weaving. The Bible is our Guide, and everything we need is within the Bible. The Tapestry Vision is about Community, and the community is the church; we are the people of God called out from the world that is evil and corrupt. When we are called out of the world, we come into a world larger than our greatest imagination, a world filled with Hope and love and eternal life. The Tapestry God is weaving is so beautiful and magnificent it is beyond imagination.

As I see the Tapestry, it is God’s Kingdom working in the community in the individuals, families, in seven cultures, each one needing to be restored or rebuilt into its intended purpose and structure. The cultures or communities are faith, education, business, government, family, social needs, and entertainment. In each of these, people have different giftings to accomplish God’s purpose for our well-being and the community. All have a Biblical foundation of what its purpose and mission is.
