Character Over Popularity in Public Office

The election of a mayor in New York City is not a popularity contest; it has moral consequences that reach far into the future.
Sadly, the amount of money being spent to influence this campaign will affect the decisions made by voters. Those who look beyond the fluff will find that character and past performance carry greater weight.
Surely God will be watching. God's judgment is based on truth, justice, and righteousness. It is not based on appearances or human biases. It is for each man and woman to discern this contest for themselves.
As practicing Christians, we should follow Christian leaders. Christian leaders have a duty to protect the flock from the wolves. They have a duty to guard the doctrine of the church and to rebuke sin among believers. This applies not only to New York City, but to every place where we elect people to high office.
Let Florida show the world our faith.
