Christ-Centered Ministry for Homeless Mothers Celebrates 17 Years in Brevard
MELBOURNE — New Life Mission will host its annual Community Care & Share luncheon April 9 and 10 at the Hilton Melbourne, marking another year of Christ-centered ministry to homeless women and children in Brevard County.
The two-day fundraiser, themed “A Million Dreams,” supports the nonprofit’s residential program, which helps mothers move from crisis to stability through housing, counseling, education and long-term accountability rooted in Christian faith.
“On the Space Coast, we celebrate bold dreams and historic launches—but some of the most important launches happen quietly as families lift off from crisis into stability,” CEO Amy Lyon said in the press release announcing the event. “‘A Million Dreams’ represents the moment a mother believes there is a better way and a child finds light in the darkness.”
Founded in 2008, New Life Mission equips homeless women with children through a 1–2 year residential program focused on education, accountability and spiritual growth. Since its founding, the organization has served more than 600 women and children and currently serves 74 individuals, including 26 mothers and 48 children. The ministry reports a 90 percent success rate among graduates.

West Melbourne Council Member Diana Adams, who serves on the board of directors and is co-chair of the 2026 luncheon, said her involvement is personal.
“After experiencing homelessness with my mom and siblings following a house fire when I was growing up, I understand how life-changing it is to have support during and after a crisis,” Adams said. “Since getting involved with CCS, I’ve seen how New Life Mission provides not just housing, but hope, stability and a path forward for families.”
In 2025 alone, New Life Mission provided more than 26,000 nights of safe shelter, over 21,000 hours of childcare and more than 1,300 sessions of Bible study and devotions alongside counseling and case management.
Unlike many service providers, New Life Mission does not utilize government funding, relying instead on private donations and grants to sustain its work. The decision allows the organization to share a Christ-centered message without restriction. Leaders note that the annual luncheon raises nearly one-third of the ministry’s operating budget while also giving the broader community a clearer understanding of the long-term transformation taking place behind the scenes.
“A million dreams may sound impossible, but we see them taking shape every day at New Life Mission,” Lyon said. “When a mother gains confidence, when a child feels safe, when a family steps into independence—that’s a launch worth celebrating.”
The Community Care & Share luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 9 and 10 at the Hilton Melbourne.
