Hope for the Future
One Minute Devotionals for local Brevard County Christians from local Brevard County Pastors.
Proverbs 23:18
Surely there is a future,
and your hope will not be cut off.
Sometimes, the future feels uncertain, even bleak. As we look around, we see a world where morality is decaying, division is deepening, and love has grown cold. In times like these, Proverbs 23:18 offers a vital reminder: “Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.”
No matter how dark the present may seem, the world will not be undone by human wickedness. History is not spiraling aimlessly—God is in control. As Christians, we do not hope in political systems, economic stability, or human progress. Our hope is rooted in something far greater: the promise of a new creation where righteousness dwells (2 Peter 3:13).
Paul reinforces this truth in Romans 5:5: “Hope does not put us to shame.” Unlike the fragile optimism of the world, biblical hope is not mere wishful thinking. It is the firm assurance that what God has promised, He will surely accomplish.
And what is our ultimate hope? It is not just a restored world, but a redeeming Savior. One day, Jesus will return to right every wrong, wipe away every tear, and bring His people into eternal joy in His presence. That is a future worth holding onto.
Devotional Prayer
Lord, as you guide our lives, help us live with certainty in the midst of uncertain times. At times your promises might seem beyond our ability to believe, but you “give more grace.” Enable us to trust your providence for our lives as we seek to live for your glory in this new year before us.
