Lifting Up God and Country: Faith and Freedom at Wickham Park
“It was for freedom that Christ set us free… Therefore keep standing firm and do not be subjected again to the yoke of slavery” – Galatians 5:1
On the 249th Independence Day, Jesus Is The Key Church under the leadership of Pastor Janna Hogan Forschino, once again gathered at Wickham Park Amphitheater to host the annual event “Lifting Up God and Country”.
Hundreds of people gathered on this day of celebration, and when the plan of salvation was offered, many people came to the platform to give their lives to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The children, both young and old, were able to declare their independence from sin and death by claiming their dependence upon the grace and liberty given to us in Christ Jesus.
“Many years ago,” Pastor Janna said, “God gave me this soap box to come out and tell you about my faith in God and the faith of those who came before us. You know, we all are going to have to make a decision while we are here… There is an eternity and the decision that we made down here is going to affect where we’re going to be for eternity…”
Many heeded the seriousness of that call and responded by saying yes to Jesus.
There were patriotic expressions with a parade of state flags, along with World War II memorabilia for people to see and experience. Yet the heart of the event, Lifting Up God and Country, was to proclaim the greatest gift that has ever been given for the freedom of all—Jesus Christ.
The 249th year was marked here on earth and in Heaven as a job well done, and now there is a holy anticipation for the 250th Independence Day for America and another opportunity for the community to gather again to lift up Jesus for all to see—for the one that Jesus sets free is free indeed!
