MELBOURNE The Macedonia Community Development Corporation of South Brevard celebrated the completion of its 20th home today with a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony in Melbourne, marking a milestone in the organization’s affordable housing work since its founding in 2008.

The new home, located on Reverend Nathaniel L. Harris Street, continues the corporation’s mission of expanding housing opportunities in South Brevard. The organization has developed homes in both Melbourne and Palm Bay.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it,” Ray Lea said, quoting Psalm 127. “We are blessed that God has given us another home in the community, and we give Him all the glory.” Lea is vice president of Macedonia Community Development Corporation and served as master of ceremonies for the event.

Macedonia Community Development Corporation President Jerry Phillips stands with the new homeowner during the dedication ceremony for the organization’s 20th home. The residence will provide stable housing for the mother and her daughter.

Jenni Lamb, city manager for Melbourne, offered remarks highlighting the strength of the partnership between the city and Macedonia Community Development Corporation and the role that collaboration plays in addressing local housing needs.

The program also included acknowledgments of city leaders, housing and planning staff, volunteers, and board members involved in the project. A prayer of dedication was delivered by the Rev. Nathaniel L. Harris of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, followed by the formal ribbon cutting.

Macedonia Community Development Corporation’s work is guided by its mission of building homes and strengthening families, a focus organizers said continues to shape future housing efforts across South Brevard.
