PALM BAY — Local Christian pastors and ministry leaders gathered at Palm Bay City Hall earlier this week to pray over city leadership, municipal offices, and the future direction of the city, at the invitation of Rob Medina, Mayor of Palm Bay.

The gathering on Tuesday evening included pastors from several Palm Bay–area churches representing a range of Christian traditions. Pastor Jim Campbell of Bay West Church, who shared publicly about the event on Facebook, said Mayor Medina invited the pastors to pray over both the new and former city buildings, the mayor’s office, and City Manager Matthew Morton and his staff.

"We prayed for the peace and prosperity of our city, its businesses, its children, and against the enemies and crime that would seek to hurt our people here, and for the Gospel to be spoken, heard and received for the good of all and the glory of God” Campbell shared.

Among those present were leaders from Bay West Church, The House Church, Eastwind Pentecostal Church, City Church Space Coast, Lifepoint Church, and Grace Church Melbourne. Photos shared by Campbell show the gathered leaders linking arms inside City Hall, praying together in offices, and laying hands on future city development plans laid out on a conference table.

"We're all a little different and lead different churches with our own individual God-given missions, but we all love Jesus and stand united in for Him" Campbell wrote of the gathering.

Mayor Medina, reached for comment on Thursday, called the evening an "intimate gathering" of local pastors who are invested in the Palm Bay community. "This is a vision God downloaded into my spirit" Medina said of the inspiration behind calling the meeting, noting that efforts to pray over the city had been ongoing since before he entered office in 2020. "We prayed for the new building and the future of the City."

The “new building” referenced by Mayor Medina is Palm Bay City Hall Building E, a new municipal facility intended to support City operations and service to the community. The City of Palm Bay has scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the building on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

Medina, who also serves as Director of Ministry at The House Church in Palm Bay alongside his mayoral duties, has been open about his Christian convictions while in office. The gathering reflects a broader trend across Brevard County of pastors and civic leaders engaging one another through prayer and relationship, seeking spiritual guidance alongside public service.
