The Lord is My Strength

One Minute Devotionals for local Brevard County Christians from local Brevard County Pastors.

The Lord is My Strength
Psalm 18:1 I love you, Lord; you are my strength.

I…LOVE…YOU are words with deep emotion reflecting the sincerity of one’s affection.  These are the words of a son, shepherd, warrior, and king who knew how to express his devotion to God.  These are the words of a man who was attacked, pursued, and harassed by all his enemies and finally delivered by the hand of God.  These are the opening words to a victory song from a man who escaped death, who was reflecting on God’s triumphant conquest over his enemies.

These are the words of a man reflecting on his life that was filled with joys, sorrows, victories, defeats, doubts and hopes.  These are words that reveal a grateful heart and a mind deeply connected to God.

King David found a strength that was not his own in God Psalm 18:7-19.

A strength that gave him moral courage.

Psalm 18:21-23 For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I have not turned from my God to follow evil. 22 I have followed all his regulations; I have never abandoned his decrees. 23 I am blameless before God; I have kept myself from sin.

A strength that carried him through dark nights.

Psalm 18:28 You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.

A strength that reminded him that what he overcame was from God.

Psalm 18:32-35 God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect. 33 He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. 34 He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. 35 You have given me your shield of victory. Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great.
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?

God gave him peace of mind and courage to face his fears

Our level of devotion reveals the depth of our strength. Worship the Lord who is our strength and courage.

Devotional Prayer

“Dear God, help us to face the uncertainty of today with the confidence that you give us.  Let us be reminded that if we allow you will guide our steps today.  You bring peace to my confusion and strength in my weakness.  Help me to stand boldly on your words and promise as I navigate this present day.

In Jesus name I pray... Amen.”
