After more than a decade of leadership at Christ Is The Answer (CITA) Rescue Mission, President Buddy Morrow is helping the longstanding Melbourne ministry expand its reach once again—this time through Helen’s House, a new shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence.

For over 55 years, CITA has been a beacon of hope for the homeless, at-risk, and hurting in the community, offering not only shelter and support but also the life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Founded by Johnny and Helen Ellison, CITA began with a simple yet powerful mission: to open their doors and hearts to those struggling with addiction, homelessness, and despair. That mission remains unchanged today.

In the past year, CITA expanded its reach with the opening of Helen’s House, a shelter specifically designed to support women and mothers with children fleeing domestic violence. The mission currently provides housing and holistic, faith-driven support to 54 men and 32 women and children, with plans to add 64 more beds to meet growing needs.

Beyond housing, CITA serves the broader community with essential resources such as food, clothing, and household furniture. Because Christ is the foundation of all its programs, the mission receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of local partners and supporters.

At CITA, true transformation begins with a relationship with Christ and continues through personalized case management that promotes healing and lasting change.
