On the Ballot: Adam Dyer, Candidate for Brevard County Commissioner District 4
As part of our new “On the Ballot” series, Christians of Brevard is asking local Christian candidates five simple questions about faith, leadership, and public service.
Adam Dyer is a lifelong Floridian, husband, father of four, Air Force Reservist, firefighter, and member of the Indian Harbour Beach City Council. He has served nearly two decades in the fire service and ten years in the United States Air Force Reserve. Adam has been a member of Coastline Community Church since 2010 and is committed to serving his community through faith, family, and public service. Raised in Brevard County and now raising his own family here, Adam is running for County Commission to provide accountable leadership, protect the county's quality of life, and preserve opportunities for future generations.
Why are you running for County Commissioner District 4?
I am running because I believe public service is a calling. Through my experience as a firefighter, Air Force Reservist, and city councilman, I have seen firsthand the importance of strong leadership, fiscal responsibility, and servant-hearted government. I want to help ensure Brevard County remains a safe, prosperous community where families can thrive and where government works for the people it serves.
What does it mean to you to be a Brevard resident?
Being a Brevard resident means being deeply connected to a community that has shaped my family for generations. My parents were raised here, I was raised here, and now my wife and I are raising our children here. Brevard County has provided my family with incredible opportunities, strong neighborhoods, and a great quality of life. I am running because I want to help preserve those opportunities and ensure that future generations—including my own children—have the same chance to succeed, serve, and build a life here that I was fortunate enough to have growing up.
What is the top issue driving your campaign, and what can voters expect you to do about it?
The top issue driving my campaign is leadership. Good leadership impacts every aspect of county government, from public safety and infrastructure to environmental stewardship and fiscal management. Voters can expect me to bring transparency, accountability, and a focus on results. I will support our first responders, advocate for responsible growth, and work to protect the Indian River Lagoon through practical, science-based solutions that benefit both our environment and our economy.
What is one misconception people may have about you or your platform?
One misconception is that public service should be about politics. My focus has always been on people, not political games. Whether serving in the fire service, the military, or local government, I have worked to solve problems and bring people together. My campaign is centered on common-sense leadership, accountability, and serving the community rather than advancing personal or political agendas.
How has your Christian faith shaped your life, and how can voters expect it to influence your approach to public office?
My Christian faith has shaped how I view leadership and service. It teaches me that leadership is not about authority or status—it is about serving others with humility, integrity, and compassion. My faith guides me to treat people with respect, be honest in my decisions, and seek wisdom when facing difficult challenges. Voters can expect me to uphold strong moral principles, act with integrity, and work every day to serve the community faithfully and responsibly. The decisions we make today will shape Brevard County for generations to come.
