On the Ballot: Judy Diaz, Candidate for Rockledge City Council Seat 3

Judy Diaz is a lifelong Brevard County resident who has proudly called Rockledge home for the past 15 years. She is a wife, mother of four, and actively serves in the women’s ministry at Calvary Chapel Viera. Professionally, she works as a Public Relations Manager for a local pool contractor. She is passionate about her family, faith, and community and looks forward to the opportunity to serve the city she loves.

Why are you running for Rockledge City Council?

I am running for Rockledge City Council as a huge step of faith. I felt compelled to put my faith into action and step up and help fill a gap of communication and transparency.

What does it mean to you to be a Brevard resident?

My family has been in Brevard County since the 1960s working on the Space Program, so we have deep roots. I feel like being a resident is appreciating our community, remembering and respecting our history and serving when and where we can.

What is the top issue driving your campaign, and what can voters expect you to do about it?

The top issue driving my campaign is responsible growth while preserving the character and quality of life that make Rockledge special. I'm not against growth, but I believe it needs to make sense for our community. Voters can expect me to advocate for a comprehensive review of our city's long-term development plan and bring better communication, transparency, and accountability to City Hall. Residents deserve to be informed, heard, and included in decisions that affect their homes and neighborhoods. My campaign team has already created Rockledgewatch.app - a free way to stay informed with what's going on in Rockledge. Check it out!

What is one misconception people may have about you or your platform?

One misconception may be that I've always wanted to be involved in politics. Quite the opposite! I never imagined myself running for office. But I got to a point where I found myself complaining about what I was seeing happen in our community, and I felt a nudge in my spirit that I needed to either stop complaining or do something about it. So, this is me doing something about it.

How has your Christian faith shaped your life, and how can voters expect it to influence your approach to public office?

My Christian faith is the foundation of who I am and how I strive to live my life. Voters can expect me to lead with integrity, humility, compassion, and a servant's heart. My faith teaches me to love my neighbor, treat others with respect, stand firm in my convictions, and do what's right, even when it's difficult. My faith is what led me to step forward, and it will continue to guide how I serve.
