On the Ballot: Linda Jimeian, Candidate for Indian Harbour Beach City Council

Linda Jimeian is a lifelong Space Coast resident who was raised in Indian Harbour Beach and Satellite Beach and is running for Indian Harbour Beach City Council. A graduate of Satellite High School and Florida State University, she has worked in community engagement, business development, marketing, workforce development, and human services. In 2010, Linda served as commercial sponsorship coordinator at Patrick Air Force Base, building partnerships between the military and local businesses. She currently serves on the Indian Harbour Beach Planning & Zoning Board and attends Coastline Community Church.

Why are you running for Indian Harbour Beach Town Council?

Indian Harbour Beach has given so much to me throughout my life. I am running for City Council because I believe it is time to give back by serving our residents with integrity, transparency, and accountability.

I believe City Council should listen first, make decisions based on facts, protect taxpayer dollars, and always put the interests of our residents first. My goal is to preserve the hometown values we cherish while thoughtfully planning for the future of our community.

I want every resident to know that their voice matters. I will be accessible, approachable, and committed to working collaboratively to make decisions that strengthen our city today and for future generations.

What does it mean to you to be a Brevard resident?

Growing up in Brevard County meant growing up where innovation, exploration, and community came together. My father was an engineer in the space program, and from an early age I learned that there are extraordinary men and women willing to dedicate—and even risk—their lives—to advance our nation's future. Their commitment to service, innovation, and excellence instilled in me a deep appreciation for hard work, purpose, and giving back.

My childhood was also shaped by my family and faith. I grew up attending Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where the church's first rector, Father Boyer, and his wife, Peggy, demonstrated what it truly means to love and serve a community. Their vision and leadership helped establish Trinity Towers, providing safe, affordable housing where seniors of limited means could live with dignity, independence, and hope. Watching their example taught me that real leadership is measured not by words, but by a willingness to serve others with compassion and purpose.

Outside of church, countless hours were spent on our local beaches—playing in the sand, swimming in the ocean, and developing a lifelong appreciation for the natural beauty of Indian Harbour Beach. Those experiences instilled in me a deep commitment to protecting the place that has given so much to my family and me.

These influences—my family's connection to the Space Coast, the example of servant leadership at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, and a lifelong love for our community—shaped the values that continue to guide me today. They are the reason I believe in listening first, leading with integrity, being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars, and working every day to preserve the character and quality of life that make Indian Harbour Beach such a special place to call home.

What is the top issue driving your campaign, and what can voters expect you to do about it?

I believe local government works best when it is transparent, fiscally responsible, and accountable to the people it serves. I am committed to listening to residents, making thoughtful decisions based on facts and community input, supporting public safety, encouraging responsible economic vitality, protecting our natural resources, and ensuring that every resident has a voice in shaping the future of our city.

What is one misconception people may have about you or your platform?

One misconception people may have is that because I come from a nonprofit and community service background, my experience is limited to social services. In reality, my career has included business development, marketing, fundraising, workforce development, strategic partnerships, budget management, and collaboration with businesses, government agencies, and community organizations. Those experiences have prepared me to make thoughtful, fiscally responsible decisions while keeping the needs of our residents at the center of every discussion.

How has your Christian faith shaped your life, and how can voters expect it to influence your approach to public office?

My faith in Jesus Christ is at the center of my life and the foundation upon which I make every decision. I believe in seeking God's wisdom through prayer and thoughtful consideration, always mindful of how today's decisions will affect both our community and future generations.

My greatest motivation is to serve others with integrity, compassion, and humility while reflecting Christ's love through my actions. I have been deeply inspired by Acts 17:26, which reminds us that God "marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands." I believe each of us is called to faithfully serve where we have been placed.

As I seek the privilege of serving on the City Council, my prayer is simple: to run the race God has set before me, to complete the work He has entrusted to me in this season, and to serve our community with wisdom, grace, and a genuine heart for the people of Indian Harbour Beach.
